Detailed Day-by-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park
After breakfast at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, you will be picked up by our experienced safari guide, who will brief you about your 10-day Uganda and Rwanda safari adventure. You will then depart for Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest and oldest national park.
Along the way, you will stop at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary in Nakasongola for an exciting rhino tracking experience. This is the only place in Uganda where you can see rhinos in the wild. After the activity, you will have lunch and continue your journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Upon arrival, you may visit the top of Murchison Falls, where the mighty River Nile squeezes through a narrow gorge before plunging down with great force. This is one of the most powerful and spectacular waterfalls in the world. Later, proceed to your lodge for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay.

Day 2: Game Drive and Boat Cruise in Murchison Falls National Park
After an early breakfast, you will head out for a morning game drive in the northern sector of Murchison Falls National Park. This area offers excellent wildlife viewing opportunities. Expect to see animals such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, waterbucks, Jackson’s hartebeests, Rothschild’s giraffes, oribis, warthogs, and many other savannah species.
After the game drive, return to the lodge for lunch and a short relaxation break. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a beautiful boat cruise along the River Nile towards the bottom of Murchison Falls. During the cruise, you will see hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and many bird species along the riverbanks. Bird lovers may also spot kingfishers, fish eagles, herons, and, with luck, the rare shoebill stork. After the boat cruise, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will begin your journey to Kibale National Park, famously known as the primate capital of the world. The drive takes you through beautiful countryside, local villages, tea plantations, and the scenic Albertine Rift Valley. Along the way, you will enjoy impressive views of Lake Albert, rolling hills, and the distant Rwenzori Mountains, also known as the Mountains of the Moon. Upon arrival in Fort Portal, you will have lunch and may enjoy a short cultural visit around the Toro Kingdom, depending on time. You will then continue to your lodge near Kibale Forest for check-in, dinner, and overnight stay as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee trekking adventure.

Day 4: Chimpanzee Trekking and Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After an early breakfast, you will transfer to the Kibale National Park headquarters for a briefing about chimpanzee trekking rules and guidelines. After the briefing, you will enter the forest with an experienced ranger guide in search of chimpanzees. The trek usually takes between 2 to 5 hours, depending on the movement of the chimpanzees. During the trek, you may also encounter other primates such as red colobus monkeys, black-and-white colobus monkeys, grey-cheeked mangabeys, blue monkeys, olive baboons, and many forest bird species. Once you find the chimpanzees, you will spend time observing their behavior as they feed, play, groom, and move through the forest. After the trek, return for lunch and then drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will enjoy beautiful scenery and possible wildlife sightings along the way. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 5: Game Drive and Boat Cruise on the Kazinga Channel
Wake up early, enjoy a cup of coffee or tea, and head out for a morning game drive in the Kasenyi Plains. This area is one of the best places in Queen Elizabeth National Park for wildlife viewing, especially early in the morning when animals are most active. During the game drive, expect to see Uganda kobs, elephants, buffaloes, bushbucks, topis, Defassa waterbucks, warthogs, and, if lucky, lions and other predators. The Kasenyi Plains are also excellent for photography because of the open savannah landscape and abundant wildlife.
After the game drive, return to your lodge for lunch and relaxation. In the afternoon, you will enjoy a 2-hour boat cruise along the famous Kazinga Channel, which connects Lake Edward and Lake George. This boat cruise is one of the highlights of Queen Elizabeth National Park. You will see large schools of hippos, crocodiles, buffaloes, elephants, and many water birds such as pelicans, kingfishers, herons, yellow-billed storks, fish eagles, and African jacanas. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park
After breakfast, you will leave Queen Elizabeth National Park and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas. The drive will take you through the Ishasha sector, famous for its tree-climbing lions. While driving through Ishasha, you may have a chance to spot these unique lions resting in fig trees, as well as other wildlife such as buffaloes, elephants, antelopes, and various bird species. You will have lunch along the way and continue through scenic highlands, local villages, and beautiful countryside.
By evening, you will arrive at your lodge near Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. Check in, relax, enjoy dinner, and prepare for the unforgettable gorilla trekking experience the following day.

Day 7: Gorilla Trekking and Community/Nature Walk
After an early breakfast, you will take your packed lunch and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing from the Uganda Wildlife Authority ranger guides. During the briefing, you will learn about gorilla trekking rules, safety guidelines, and how to behave when you meet the gorillas. You will then be assigned to a gorilla family and begin your trek into Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. The trek can take a few hours, depending on the location and movement of the gorillas. Although the hike may be challenging, the reward is truly unforgettable.
Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one magical hour observing them in their natural habitat. You may watch them feeding, resting, playing, or caring for their young. This is one of the most powerful wildlife experiences in Africa. After the trek, return to your lodge for relaxation. In the evening, you may enjoy an optional community or nature walk to nearby villages, where you can learn about local culture, traditions, and daily life around Bwindi. Later, return to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 8: Transfer to Volcanoes National Park, Rwanda
After breakfast, you will depart Uganda and cross into Rwanda, famously known as the “Land of a Thousand Hills.” The journey offers beautiful views of rolling hills, terraced farms, and local communities. You will continue to Volcanoes National Park, located in northwestern Rwanda. This park is part of the greater Virunga Conservation Area and is home to mountain gorillas, golden monkeys, and several volcanic peaks. While in this region, you may enjoy scenic views of Mount Karisimbi, Mount Bisoke, Mount Muhabura, Mount Gahinga, and Mount Sabyinyo. Upon arrival, you will check in at your lodge, relax, and enjoy dinner as you prepare for your second gorilla trekking experience the next day.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Volcanoes National Park
After an early breakfast, take your packed lunch and drinking water, then transfer to the Volcanoes National Park headquarters for registration and briefing. You may also enjoy a warm cup of Rwandan coffee while watching a traditional Kinyarwanda dance performance before the trek begins. After the briefing, you will be assigned to a gorilla group and start your trek with professional ranger guides. The trek may take several hours depending on the movement of the gorillas, but the experience is highly rewarding.
Once you find the gorillas, you will spend one unforgettable hour watching them in their natural environment. Seeing mountain gorillas in Rwanda’s misty volcanic forests is a deeply moving experience and a major highlight of this 10-day Uganda and Rwanda safari. After the trek, return to the park headquarters where you may receive a gorilla trekking certificate. Later, drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 10: Kigali City Tour and Departure
After breakfast, check out of your lodge and transfer to Kigali, Rwanda’s clean and beautiful capital city. Depending on your flight schedule, you will enjoy a Kigali city tour. One of the main places to visit is the Kigali Genocide Memorial at Gisozi, where you will learn about the tragic events of the 1994 Rwandan Genocide and how the country has rebuilt itself into one of Africa’s most peaceful and organized destinations. You may also visit local craft markets or other city highlights if time allows. After the tour, your guide will transfer you to Kigali International Airport for your departure flight, marking the end of your unforgettable 10-day Uganda and Rwanda safari.
